Attorney Chris Harmon Wins $1,630,000.00 Verdict For Injured Runner
Press release, Dec. 19, 2017
Cumberland Superior Court Judge Nancy Mills awarded Stephen Carpenter a $1,630,000.00 verdict for his injuries from a car collision on July 30, 2015. Stephen was running his typical route close to his home in Gorham, Maine where the speed limit in the area is 30 miles per hour. Defendant Glenn Miles came speeding around a turn at 63 miles per hour and crashed into Stephen, violently hurling him into a tree. Stephen was represented by Chris Harmon at Terry Garmey & Associates, in Portland, Maine.
"Stephen is a terrific person. His injuries were severe and would have stopped many people in their tracks. But he never lost his positive outlook and did everything he could to get better. As a runner myself, I realized this tragedy could have happened to me or my friends. I hope the punitive damage verdict of $150,000.00 sends a message that will keep us all a little bit safer." Harmon was the top Maine finisher in the Boston Marathon in 2016 and 2017. He takes pride as a lawyer at Terry Garmey & Associates in helping Mainers whose lives have been disrupted because of the poor and reckless decision making of others.
