motorcycle accidents

The abundance of scenic roadways across Maine makes it a great state for motorcyclists. As the warmer months approach, motorcyclists will travel here from all over the country to enjoy the breathtaking views. However, unique risks and consequences are associated with motorcycles. Motorcycles can be more difficult to see than other vehicles, increasing the odds of an accident. Also, since motorcyclists are exposed, motorcycle accidents are more likely to result in serious injury.

A recent accident in Freeport claimed the life of a young motorcyclist. The accident occurred during the afternoon hours on Desert Road near Interstate 295. According to reports, a pickup truck pulling a boat trailer was exiting Interstate 295 and pulling onto Desert Road.

Police reports say the truck collided with a motorcyclist traveling northwest on Desert Road. The driver of the pickup truck did not see the motorcyclist. Reports indicate that the motorcyclist suffered serious injuries. The motorcyclist was rushed to a local hospital, where he tragically died, police said. The biker was only 24 years old.

Motorcyclists are at an increased risk for accidents on today’s increasingly crowded roadways. Drivers in Maine should stay focused and be on the lookout for motorcycles as they travel during the summer months. Families have options for legal recourse available that may ease the pain and suffering associated with a serious injury or the death of a loved one in a crash such as this. A successful motor vehicle accident lawsuit can result in compensation to help families with medical costs, final expenses, and other financial losses.
