Portland, ME — Garmey Law is proud to work alongside renowned mass tort trial lawyer Mikal Watts of Watts LLP to represent Mainers injured by exceedingly high PFAS water contamination in their land and water. These “forever chemicals” and their widespread environmental and health impacts are an ongoing problem, leading to a PFAS contamination lawsuit in Fairfield, Maine.

The Garmey Law team has brought suit on behalf of several families, alleging that corporations, including 3M and Dupont, are responsible for widespread contamination in the Fairfield area, with more suits expected to roll out in the future. These lawsuits are similar to others filed around the country, and estimates suggest these companies may face trillions of dollars in damages due to health impacts and environmental destruction caused by PFAS.

Environmental advocate Erin Brockovich, who has long campaigned against PFAS and other harmful chemicals, recently highlighted the story of Garmey Law clients Penny and Lawrence Higgins in the New York Times podcast The Opinions. Brockovich emphasized the urgent need for stronger regulations, better oversight, and enforcement to prevent further contamination.

Garmey Law is proud to stand alongside the Higgins family and others in their fight for environmental justice in Maine. To learn more about the legal work being done in this area, visit PFAS Maine.
